Iyabo Ojo Petitions NSA Over Police Misconduct and VeryDarkMan’s Presence During Interrogation

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has taken legal action against the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCC) and social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM). In a formal petition dated July 29, 2025, submitted to National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the actress alleges misconduct, privacy violations, and bias during her recent interrogation at the police facility in Abuja.

The petition was filed by The Maverick Forte Legal, the legal team representing Ojo. The complaint details an incident that occurred during her interrogation related to a cyberbullying and defamation complaint filed by music artists Naira Marley and Sam Larry.

According to her legal team, VDM—who is reportedly a civilian and a defendant in a separate case involving Ojo—was allowed access to the interrogation room, where he sat with the officers, drank coffee, and allegedly fraternised with complainants. The move was described as a clear violation of interrogation protocols, especially considering VDM’s status in the related case.

The complaint also alleges that the Commissioner of Police, Ifeanyi Henry Uche, has an unusually close relationship with VDM, which may have contributed to the breach. Furthermore, Ojo claims that sensitive details from her session were leaked online, allegedly by VDM himself, causing further distress and compromising her safety and rights.

Ojo is now demanding an independent investigation, a transfer of the case to Lagos, and an immediate stop to what her team has called a biased and manipulated process. She also revealed that a petition she filed in December 2024 against VDM has yet to receive attention from the authorities.

Citing health concerns and safety threats, Ojo has announced she will no longer appear for questioning at the Abuja NPF-NCC facility.

Question:
Why did Iyabo Ojo petition the Nigeria Police and NSA?
She filed the petition after alleging that the police allowed VeryDarkMan, a civilian and defendant in a separate case, into her interrogation room, violating protocol and exposing her to further risk.

Always ensure that proper legal representation is present during any police questioning, especially in sensitive or high-profile cases. Privacy and due process are rights that must be respected in every investigation.
