Terry G Defends Performing AY.com’s Song Says It’s Not Theft but Collaboration

Nigerian singer Gabriel Oche Amanyi, popularly known as Terry G, has finally broken his silence on the long-standing claims that he stole the hit track Pass Me Your Love from fellow artist AY.com. The song, which featured Terry G as a guest, became a fan favourite in the mid-2000s and sparked controversy when Terry G began performing it at his shows.

Over the years, critics accused Terry G of hijacking the song, saying he performed it like it was solely his. However, in a post shared on 𝕏 (formerly Twitter), Terry G dismissed the accusations as baseless, calling them a product of ignorance. He argued that since he collaborated on the song, he had every right to perform it.

“To those saying I stole ‘Pass Me Your Love’ from AY.com that’s pure ignorance,” he wrote. “So I don’t have the right to perform a song I collaborated on? Your favourite artists do it all the time, but when it’s me, it becomes a problem. Hypocrisy at its finest.”

He clarified that he never claimed ownership of the song and never included it in his album. He said the collaboration was never about control but about music. Terry G added that much of the backlash hurt AY.com’s career more than his own actions ever did.

“Some of you ruined AY’s moment with your noise, not me. As for my shine, nobody can block it. You no reach,” he added confidently.

Terry G’s comments have since stirred fresh debate on social media about performance rights, artist collaboration, and public perception in Nigeria’s music industry.
