Skales Claims He Wrote Hit Songs for Wizkid

Popular singer Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, known as Skales, recently revealed that he has written several hit songs for his colleague Wizkid during their time at Empire Mates Entertainment (EME). In a candid conversation on the show ‘Curiosity Made Me Ask,’ hosted by content creator Bae U Barbie, Skales shared his experiences working closely with Wizkid and the creative collaboration they had.

During the interview, Skales mentioned that he co-wrote tracks from Wizkid’s debut album, Super Star, including the bonus track ‘Wiz Party.’ He expressed pride in their teamwork, highlighting how they supported each other as artists. “Back in EME, we were a team, so we used to write songs for each other,” Skales explained. His acknowledgment of their mutual contributions shows the strong bond they formed while working together.

Interestingly, Skales also credited Wizkid for his hit song ‘Mukulu,’ which was written specifically for him. He emphasized that their collaboration was a significant part of their journey at EME. “He wrote ‘Mukulu’ for me, and I wrote his song ‘Wiz Party,’” Skales said, illustrating the collaborative spirit that defined their time at the label. Their relationship as songwriters speaks to the creative synergy that existed within the EME team.

Wizkid and Skales were among the first artists signed to EME by the influential R&B star and music executive, Banky W, in the early 2010s. The record label played a crucial role in launching their careers and bringing them into the spotlight. Together, they created a powerful musical force, capturing the attention of fans and industry insiders alike.

However, their time at EME was not without challenges. Both artists eventually left the label following disagreements with Banky W. In a past interview, Banky W revealed that Wizkid was contractually obligated to deliver three albums to EME, indicating that the relationship had its complexities. Despite the disagreements, the impact of their collaboration continues to resonate in the music industry.

Skales’ revelation about writing for Wizkid adds another layer to their history as artists. Fans have always been curious about the dynamics between musicians, and this insight highlights the collaborative nature of the industry. It serves as a reminder that many hit songs come from teamwork and shared creativity, rather than individual effort alone.

Skales’ admission not only honors their past teamwork but also emphasizes the importance of collaboration in creating memorable music.
