Skales Says Prayer at Shiloh Birthed His Hit Song Shake Body
Nigerian singer Raoul Njeng-Njeng, better known as Skales, has shared the emotional story behind his breakthrough song Shake Body. The Afrobeats star revealed that the track was a direct answer to a prayer he made during the 2013 Shiloh programme of the Living Faith Church (Winners’ Chapel).
At the time, Skales was struggling in his music career after leaving Banky W’s Empire Mates Entertainment (EME). He explained that fellow singer Timaya took him to Shiloh, where worshippers were told to write down seven prayer requests. Skales said he wrote the same request seven times, asking God for a global hit song that would change his life.
Two years later, in 2015, his prayer was answered when Shake Body became a massive Afrobeats anthem, launching his solo career and bringing him international recognition. The song has continued to enjoy success over the years and recently gained fresh attention after Barcelona star Lamine Yamal and his teammates were spotted dancing to it.
Sharing his testimony on X, Skales wrote:
“In 2013, @timayatimaya took me to Shiloh and we were told to write down 7 things we are praying for. I wrote a song that will take me to the ends of the world 7 times… Fast forward to today, God gave me a divine, unending song. When they think it’s over, another thing pops up about this song. Lord Jesus, thank you.”
For Skales, the success of Shake Body is more than just music. He sees it as a divine blessing that has continued to open doors for him, even a decade after its release. The song remains a source of inspiration to many who believe in the power of prayer and persistence.
