Shakira’s Medical Record Leak Triggers Investigation in Peru

Peruvian authorities have investigated the unauthorized leak of Shakira’s medical records following her treatment at a Lima clinic. Officials have warned that the clinic responsible could face hefty fines of up to $430,000.

The 48-year-old Colombian superstar was rushed to the emergency room on Saturday due to an abdominal condition, leading to the cancellation of her highly anticipated Sunday show. Shortly after her hospitalization, her medical records surfaced on social media, sparking public outrage and prompting an official inquiry.

Peru’s national health service watchdog confirmed that the investigation will last 25 days. Ruby Cubas, a spokeswoman for the agency, revealed that officials had already met with the clinic’s management to gather confidential explanations.

The Delgado clinic, where Shakira was treated, acknowledged the breach, calling it a “serious ethical violation.” The facility has since initiated internal disciplinary actions against those responsible.

Despite the controversy, Shakira resumed her “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” world tour, performing in Lima on Monday night. She expressed gratitude to her Peruvian fans, thanking them for their support.

The tour, her first in seven years, kicked off in Rio de Janeiro shortly after she won a Grammy for Best Latin Pop Album. Shakira, a vocal advocate for migrants, dedicated her award to those facing deportation in the U.S.

With over 90 million records sold worldwide, Shakira remains one of the most celebrated Latin artists of all time.
