Rexxie Claims Seyi Vibes’ Rise to Fame Was Orchestrated
Nigerian music producer and disc jockey Ezeh Chisom Faith, professionally known as Rexxie, has sparked debate by claiming that singer Seyi Vibes’ sudden rise to stardom was orchestrated and not entirely organic.
During a recent TikTok livestream, Rexxie described Seyi Vibes as an “industry plant,” suggesting that his breakthrough was carefully planned by his management team and other industry players. He said the rise was partly “a bit of divine arrangement” but largely the result of strategic planning.
Rexxie further alleged that Seyi Vibes and his team had attempted to provoke a public feud with popular Nigerian singer Asake, seemingly to gain attention and publicity. However, the plan failed, as Asake did not engage. “Seyi Vibes and his team even tried to force a beef with Asake but got snubbed,” Rexxie said. “I don’t want to go into the details, but it is understandable that Seyi Vibes’ blow was orchestrated.”
He added that the artist’s rapid popularity is impressive but should be seen in the context of careful management and planning, rather than being solely attributed to organic growth or fan support. Rexxie’s comments have reignited conversations online about the phenomenon of “industry plants” in Nigeria’s music scene, where some artists’ careers are accelerated through strategic promotions and collaborations orchestrated by their teams.
Seyi Vibes, known for his hit songs and energetic style, has experienced significant growth in popularity recently, but Rexxie’s remarks suggest that some of this success was not entirely spontaneous. Meanwhile, fans and social media users are debating whether the term “industry plant” is fair, or simply a critique of how the modern music industry operates.
