Popular Nigerian Comic Actor Okemesi Dies After Brief Illness

Popular Nigerian comic actor Bamidele Tope Saint, widely known as Okemesi, has passed away following a brief illness. He reportedly died at around 11:50 a.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at a hospital where he had been receiving treatment.

Reports say Okemesi slipped into a coma for several hours due to complications linked to medication administered during his treatment. News of his death was confirmed by fellow actor Tony Montana Jeff in a video shared on Instagram. Jeff emotionally stated that medical personnel had pronounced Okemesi dead at the stated time.

“With a heavy heart, I’m announcing to the world that Okemesi is dead. The doctor pronounced him dead at exactly 11:50 a.m. this morning, February 24, 2026,” Jeff said in the video.

Speaking on behalf of the late actor’s family, Jeff added that Okemesi’s remains had been deposited in a mortuary, and funeral arrangements would be shared at a later date.

Okemesi was celebrated for his comic roles and significant contributions to Nigeria’s entertainment industry. His humour, distinctive on-screen presence, and ability to make audiences laugh earned him admiration from fans and colleagues alike.
