NAPTIP Calls for Evidence as Netizens Demand Probe of Simi Over Resurfaced Daycare Posts

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has asked members of the public to provide evidence over allegations linked to singer Simi and her mother’s daycare.

The call came after some netizens demanded an investigation into resurfaced social media posts from 2012 and 2013. The old posts, shared on X (formerly Twitter), were said to have been made when Simi was helping out at her mother’s daycare while building her music career.

Some social media users accused the singer of inappropriate comments involving toddlers. The backlash grew after Simi recently spoke strongly against rape during discussions surrounding the Mirabel Centre saga. Critics pointed to the old tweets and called for authorities to look into the matter.

In response, Simi defended herself. She explained that she lived and worked at her mother’s daycare at the time and often tweeted about her daily experiences. According to her, the posts were not made from a place of perversion but were casual updates about her life.

Despite her clarification, online reactions have continued, with many calling for a formal investigation. Reacting to the situation, NAPTIP released a statement saying it welcomes anyone with factual information, direct knowledge, or evidence related to alleged child sexual abuse in daycare settings to come forward confidentially.

The agency stressed that it is open to reviewing credible reports and that individuals who were personally affected should reach out. The development shows how social media conversations can trigger attention from relevant authorities.

As the issue unfolds, attention now shifts from online debates to whether any verified evidence will be submitted to support a possible investigation.
