Nollywood actor and filmmaker Jamiu Azeez has responded to the backlash he faced for attending a crossover church service, emphasizing his right to practice any religion. The actor addressed critics in a post on his Instagram page, questioning why people were concerned about his personal faith.

In his post, Jamiu clarified that he did not announce a conversion to Christianity but only attended the special church service. “It’s only in Nigeria people are so bothered about another person’s life. Imagine telling a man in his 40s how to live his life. I posted myself in white garment on the crossover night and mehn, the comments I have been reading on blogs, especially on Facebook, are crazy. Some even came to my DM to drag me… I can choose to practise any religion and that should not be anyone’s problem. I never even came out to say I have converted o,” he wrote.

Jamiu also stressed that he values his freedom to make personal religious choices. He pointed out that, just as he attended a church service, he could decide to follow traditional practices if he wished. “No worry, I go wear babalawo cloth tomorrow,” he added humorously, reminding Nigerians to respect individual choices.
