Isaac Fayose Slams Seyi Law Over Nigeria Safety Claims After Ondo Church Kidnapping
Isaac Fayose, younger brother of former Ekiti State governor Ayo Fayose, has criticised comedian Seyi Law over his claim that Nigeria is now safer. Fayose pointed to recent kidnappings in Ondo State as proof that insecurity remains a serious problem.
On 25 February 2026, armed men attacked the Celestial Church of Christ in Uso, Owo Local Government Area, during a late-night service. At least six worshippers were abducted. Police later rescued one victim, while the others are still missing.
This attack occurred days after Seyi Law stated on a podcast that Nigeria is safer than it was 10 years ago, with fewer kidnappings and bandit attacks.
Fayose shared a video showing heavy traffic on the Akure–Owo Expressway, where residents blocked the road to protest the kidnappings. The footage showed stranded vehicles and frustrated citizens demanding stronger government action.
He criticised Seyi Law directly, calling him a “failed comedian” and accusing him of collecting money while people in Ondo face danger. “Tag failed comedian, Seyi Law, to this video. Look at his people suffering. Kidnappers did not let them rest. He said Nigeria is safe now. Look at this video,” Fayose said.
Fayose also blamed the Ondo state government and political leaders for failing to protect citizens, claiming that criminals are often released after being caught.
Netizens reacted to Fayose’s video with mixed opinions. Some argued that Seyi Law is entitled to his opinion but not responsible for security, while others said celebrities often see “safe Nigeria” from their protected lives, disconnected from the reality in towns like Ondo.
Earlier, Fayose accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of nepotism, saying that filling top positions with Yoruba appointees weakens national unity and leaves other regions feeling excluded.
