Drake Breaks Record for Most RIAA Diamond Certifications in Music History
Drake has made music history once again by becoming the artist with the most RIAA Diamond certifications. The Canadian rapper achieved this milestone after two of his early hits — Hold On, We’re Going Home and Best I Ever Had — crossed 10 million units sold in the United States.
These new Diamond certifications add to an already impressive list of Drake tracks that have received the prestigious RIAA status. Some of his other Diamond-certified songs include God’s Plan, Hotline Bling, One Dance (featuring Wizkid and Kyla), Life Is Good (with Future), SICKO MODE (with Travis Scott), Work, Love Me, and No Guidance (with Chris Brown).
This landmark achievement comes just weeks after Drake became the first artist in history to cross 500 million RIAA-certified units across albums, singles, and features — a feat that highlights his dominance in the American music market.
His influence continues to grow globally. Drake recently set a new record for the most cumulative weeks on the Billboard 200 chart, surpassing a previous record held by The Beatles. He also reached his 14th No. 1 song as a solo artist with his collaborative album $ome $exy 4 U with PartyNextDoor, tying legends like Jay-Z and Taylor Swift for second-most Billboard 200 No. 1 albums.
Additionally, Drake now has 13 No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, equaling Michael Jackson’s record as the male soloist with the most chart-topping singles.
Drake’s popularity doesn’t stop at sales and certifications. On Spotify, he holds the record for the most songs with over 1 billion streams — with 16 tracks reaching that milestone. His consistent streaming success further cements his legacy in the digital era.
According to IFPI, Drake was the highest-selling rapper of 2024 and ranked as the second best-selling global artist of the year, only behind Taylor Swift. This marks the 10th time Drake has landed in the global top 10 and the 10th time he’s been named the highest-selling rapper in the world.
Despite a high-profile rap beef with Kendrick Lamar in 2024, Drake continues to dominate the charts and sales rankings. Kendrick ranks at No. 9, while Eminem sits at No. 8 on the IFPI list, placing Drake well ahead of his peers.
