Burna Boy Breaks Record Again as Most Certified Nigerian Artist in France
Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy has again made history in France by receiving another platinum certification. This time, it’s for his feature on Coldplay’s 2024 hit song We Pray, which also features Little Simz, Elyanna, and Tini.
The certification was issued by SNEP, the French music body, marking Burna Boy’s 10th song to reach platinum status in France. His recent hit City Boy was also certified platinum, adding to his growing list of international successes.
This new milestone extends Burna Boy’s record as the most certified Nigerian artist in France. His consistent achievements show how his music continues to connect with fans worldwide, especially in Europe.
The song We Pray is from Coldplay’s album Moon Music, and Burna Boy’s contribution helped the track become a success in France. This follows another big achievement last year when he sold out the 80,000-capacity Stade De France, making him the first African artist to do so.
Burna Boy also became the first artist to appear on the cover of Billboard France Magazine, showing how strong his fan base is in the country. His growing fame in France reflects the global impact of Afrobeat music.
Some of Burna Boy’s biggest certifications in France include diamond plaques for Last Last and On The Low, platinum for Gbona, YE, and City Boy, and gold for Alone, For My Hand featuring Ed Sheeran, and Anybody.
He also earned another platinum certification for Donne-Moi L’accord, his collaboration with French star Dadju. This makes him one of the most recognized African artists in the French music industry.
Looking ahead, Burna Boy is preparing to release his eighth studio album titled No Sign of Weakness in 2025. He has already dropped five singles, including his latest track Tatata, which features American rapper Travis Scott and blends Brazilian funk with Afrobeat vibes.
