Burna Boy Breaks New Record With Most Billboard Hot 100 Entries By An African Artist

Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar Burna Boy has made history yet again, becoming the African artist with the highest number of entries on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. His latest appearance comes from his feature on American rapper Gunna’s new track “WGFT,” which debuted at number 96 on this week’s chart and marks Burna Boy’s seventh career entry.

This achievement also makes him the first African artist to debut on the Hot 100 in five consecutive years — 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and now 2025. Many fans and industry insiders have described the milestone as another clear sign of his global dominance and consistency.

Burna Boy first entered the Billboard Hot 100 in 2021 with the song “Loved By You,” a collaboration with Justin Bieber. In 2022, he earned his first solo entry with “Last Last,” which later peaked at number 44 and became one of his most successful international releases.

Beyond the United States, Burna Boy continues to lead the charts in other countries. He currently holds the record for the most entries by an African artist on the UK Singles Chart with 26 appearances and also has 11 entries on the Canadian Hot 100.

Meanwhile, nightlife entrepreneur Cubana Chief Priest recently claimed that he supported Burna Boy during the early days of his career. Speaking in a livestream, he said the award-winning singer used to stay at his home in Owerri for days and that he played a part in helping him grow before he became a household name.

Cubana Chief Priest stressed that he has always supported talented people and is proud to have played a role in the rise of one of Africa’s biggest stars.
