Oyo Government Denies Plot to Dethrone Olubadan Amid Rumours
The Oyo State Government has firmly denied allegations that Governor Seyi Makinde is planning to dethrone the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Ladoja.
The claim, which was reportedly made by former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose, has been described by the state government as false and misleading.
Reacting to the allegation, the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, stated clearly that the government has never considered, discussed, or planned any move against the traditional ruler. He dismissed the claim as baseless and politically motivated.
According to Oyelade, there must always be a credible reason behind any government action, stressing that no such issue exists between the state government and the Olubadan. He suggested that the allegation should not be taken seriously, especially given its source.
He further criticised what he described as desperate political propaganda, warning that such claims can weaken public trust in democracy and governance.
Also speaking on the matter, the media aide to the Olubadan, Chief Adeola Oloko, described the report as unfounded and lacking any basis. He stated that there is no disagreement or conflict between Governor Makinde and the monarch that could lead to such action.
Oloko added that it would be unfortunate if people continue to spread rumours that have no connection to reality, noting that the relationship between both parties remains peaceful.
The development has sparked discussions online, but officials insist there is no tension between the Oyo State Government and the Olubadan, urging the public to disregard the rumours.
