Cristiano Ronaldo Becomes Co-Owner Of Spanish Club Almeria
Cristiano Ronaldo has officially become a co-owner of Spanish second division club UD Almeria, buying a 25% stake through his company, CR7 Sports Investments. The 41-year-old Al-Nassr forward said he is excited to work with the club’s leadership to support its growth.
Ronaldo explained that it has long been his ambition to contribute to football beyond playing. “UD Almeria is a Spanish club with strong foundations and clear potential for growth,” he said in a statement.
Almeria is currently owned by a Saudi investment consortium led by Mohammed Al-Khereiji. Al-Khereiji welcomed Ronaldo’s involvement, highlighting his experience in Spanish football and his knowledge of the league, saying Ronaldo understands the potential for both the team and the club’s academy.
The club was purchased last year by Al-Khereiji’s SMC Group from Turki Al-Sheikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority.
Ronaldo spent nine years at Real Madrid, winning two La Liga titles and four Champions League trophies before moving to Juventus in 2018. He has played for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League since 2022, earning a record £177m per year.
UD Almeria, founded in 1989, is currently third in the Segunda Division, just two points behind leaders Real Racing, with 15 games remaining in the season. Ronaldo’s new role marks a major step in his involvement in football beyond his playing career.
