Premier FM Honours Fuji Legend Barrister with Electrifying “Barristermania 2025” Concert in Ibadan

Radio Nigeria’s Premier FM Ibadan has taken a major step toward preserving Nigeria’s rich indigenous music culture with the successful hosting of a colorful Fuji music concert in Ibadan. The event, held at Thikadol Event Center and Hotel in the Oni and Sons area of the city, drew Fuji music lovers, industry stakeholders, and cultural enthusiasts from across Oyo State and beyond.

Branded “Barristermania 2025,” the concert was organized to celebrate the enduring legacy of the late Fuji pioneer, Alhaji Sikiru Ayinde “Barrister,” widely regarded as the architect of modern Fuji music. Beyond paying tribute to the legendary musician, the event also served as a platform to identify, encourage, and promote emerging talents within the Fuji music scene.

Speaking at the event, the General Manager of Premier FM Ibadan, Mr. Olusegun Ogunjobi, described the concert as part of the station’s broader mission to preserve indigenous music genres and recognize individuals who have played vital roles in the growth and development of Fuji music over the years. He emphasized that Barrister’s influence remains deeply rooted in the genre and continues to inspire generations of musicians.

In his welcome address, the Zonal Director of Radio Nigeria, Ibadan Zonal Station, Mr. Dominic Mokikan, represented by the Deputy Director of Sports and Outside Broadcast, Dr. Abiodun Ogidan, reaffirmed Radio Nigeria’s commitment to talent discovery and cultural promotion. He noted that supporting homegrown music is essential to strengthening Nigeria’s creative and entertainment industries.

Chairman of the occasion and President of the Omo Ajorosun Club, Engineer Sunday Gbenjo, praised Radio Nigeria for consistently promoting Fuji music and sustaining the legacy of its pioneers. He urged upcoming musicians to learn from the discipline, originality, and creative excellence of Alhaji Sikiru Ayinde Barrister, stressing that these qualities are the reason his music remains relevant decades after his passing.

 

The atmosphere at the venue was vibrant as the stage came alive with thrilling performances from several Fuji artistes, including Habeeb Olunde Fuji, who delighted the audience with energetic renditions. The event also featured the presentation of awards to individuals recognized for their outstanding contributions to the entertainment and Fuji music industry.
