FirstBank Supports Oke-Odan Cultural Festival to Promote Arts and Heritage

FirstBank of Nigeria Ltd has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting Nigerian arts and culture by sponsoring the Oke-Odan Cultural Festival 2025 in the Oke-Odan community of Yewa South Local Government Area, Ogun State.

The sponsorship aligns with the bank’s First@Arts initiative, which supports African culture, and its #DecemberIssaVybe campaign, celebrating culture, tourism, and lifestyle at the end of each year.

The 2025 festival, themed “Leveraging Cultural Integration for Economic Prosperity,” highlighted the importance of preserving heritage while creating economic opportunities. The event included award presentations, project commissioning, and activities aimed at youth engagement.

The festival also strengthened community ties by bringing together Oke-Odan indigenes from the diaspora and those living at home. Speaking at the event, the Oloke-Odan of Oke-Odan, Oba Oluwarotimi Fagbenro, praised FirstBank and other contributors for supporting cultural preservation.

“Our rich cultural heritage is being celebrated more than ever,” the monarch said, emphasizing that the festival promotes heritage, wellness, education, and community development.

The Oke-Odan Cultural Festival began as Oke-Odan Day in 2022 and has since grown into a larger event, reflecting wider participation and broader celebrations.

Oba Fagbenro also called on Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun to construct the Oke-Odan bypass road connecting the Owode–Idiroko road, noting that the community has long appealed for this infrastructure project.

Through its support, FirstBank continues to highlight the role of culture in driving youth engagement and local economic growth, ensuring Nigeria’s rich heritage remains celebrated and accessible.
