Zlatan Ibile Says Nigerians Are Used to Suffering as Government Fails to Help

Nigerian rapper Zlatan Ibile has spoken openly about the difficult situation many Nigerians are facing, saying that hardship has become a normal part of daily life because the government has not provided meaningful help. He shared these thoughts during an interview in the United Kingdom with media personality Madame Joyce.

Zlatan explained that Nigerians are now used to “suffering and smiling” because the problems affecting the country have been left unresolved for so long. According to him, the government has not provided solutions that would make life easier for ordinary people. He believes many citizens have simply learned to accept the struggle as a way of life.

During the interview, he reacted to a joke made by British rapper Dave, who highlighted the contrast between wealthy Nigerians spending heavily in clubs and poor beggars waiting outside those same clubs hoping to receive money. Zlatan said this image reflects the reality of inequality across the country today.

He mentioned that the government has failed to create opportunities that can help Nigerians, especially young people, improve their living conditions. This lack of support, he said, forces many into survival mode every day.

Zlatan also spoke about the growing culture of begging in Nigeria. He said that many beggars now treat begging as a full-time job because they believe it is the easiest way to get money. He added that while people often feel compassion and give them money, some beggars have developed a sense of entitlement and sometimes even become aggressive when people refuse to give.

He advised those who beg on the streets to seek meaningful work or small business opportunities that can help them build long-term stability and self-respect. According to him, even starting small can lead to personal growth and financial improvement over time.

Why did Zlatan call out the government?
He believes the government has not taken enough action to address poverty and the rising cost of living, leaving citizens to deal with hardship on their own.

Zlatan ended by saying that Nigerians deserve a better quality of life and that real change can only happen when leaders take responsibility and show concern for the people’s well-being.
