YoungOG Drops New Single ‘Ebube’ and Explains Why He Rebranded from Asha Gangali
Veteran Nigerian musician and music executive, YoungOG, formerly known as Asha Gangali, has officially unveiled his new musical identity with the release of a powerful single titled “Ebube.” The artist, known for hits like Ninja Bike, explained the reasons behind the name change, describing it as a natural evolution rooted in his long-standing contributions to Afrobeats and music copyright advocacy.
YoungOG, the creative force behind the talent discovery platform Roc Da Mic Africa, shared that the rebranding was inspired by the changing dynamics of music consumers. According to him, shifting from Asha Gangali to YoungOG was essential to connect with a younger audience—specifically Gen Z and Gen Alpha—whose tastes continue to shape the Afrobeats culture globally.
He emphasized that his new brand and sound are the results of years of creative planning. “I’ve always been years ahead of any Afrobeats dispensation,” he said. “This is why my sound always feels fresh and dope.” He described his new musical style as “Eclectic”, combining diverse elements into a refreshing Highlife-inspired Afrobeat.
“EBUBE,” his debut single under the YoungOG name, features rising talents Peppa and Tbeatshiii. The song is a vibrant Highlife banger filled with soulful melodies and rhythmic grooves, now available on all streaming platforms.
While embracing this exciting new phase of his career, YoungOG reassured fans that he remains committed to his advocacy work in the Nigerian music industry. Having previously served as the National Treasurer of PMAN and a board member at the Musical Copyright Society of Nigeria (MCSN), he continues to push for transparency and global best practices in copyright and royalty management.
“Even as I transition artistically, I will never stop demanding accountability and world-class standards in our music institutions,” he affirmed.
With “Ebube” marking a fresh chapter, YoungOG is ready to redefine his legacy while inspiring a new generation of Afrobeats lovers.
