Woli Arole Criticizes Popular Saying ‘I Prefer To Cry In A Lamborghini’ Calling It A Useless Mindset

Nigerian comedian and actor, Woli Arole, has spoken out strongly against the viral saying, “I prefer to cry in a Lamborghini than smile in a Marwa,” describing it as a useless and misleading mindset that promotes materialism over true happiness.

The saying became widely discussed again following reports about the alleged marital issues between Nollywood actress Regina Daniels and her billionaire husband, Ned Nwoko. Many Nigerians have used the phrase to express the idea that it is better to experience pain or sadness while living in luxury than to live a modest life with joy and peace. However, Woli Arole completely disagrees with this view.

In a recent post on his Instagram page, the UK-based entertainer shared his frustration over the growing trend of people glorifying wealth at the expense of contentment. He explained that the statement encourages a wrong mindset, especially among young people, who may begin to believe that money automatically guarantees happiness.

According to Arole, crying inside a luxury car like a Lamborghini is not a sign of success or fulfillment. He warned that material possessions cannot replace peace of mind and emotional stability. In his words, “I prefer to cry in a Lamborghini than smile in a Marwa, it’s a useless statement oooo. Don’t say it with people oooo! Your cry in Lambo can be for a lifetime oooo! Think it twice.”

The comedian’s message struck a chord with many Nigerians who flooded his comment section with support. Some agreed that peace and happiness are far more important than wealth, while others shared personal stories about how material riches could never truly buy joy or emotional peace.

Woli Arole’s remarks also reignited discussions about how social media influences people’s values and life goals. Many have argued that young people today are too focused on money and luxury lifestyles, forgetting the importance of genuine happiness, moral values, and inner peace.

Meanwhile, Catholic priest Fr. Kelvin Ugwu also commented on the topic, linking it to the alleged troubles in the marriage of Ned Nwoko and Regina Daniels. According to him, their relationship was never built on love but on mutual greed. He stated that Ned wanted a young virgin, while Regina sought wealth and status, and both entered into the relationship for selfish reasons.

Fr. Ugwu added that their current marital woes are simply the result of those choices. He explained that relationships based on material or selfish interests often lack the emotional strength needed to survive challenges. “They both got what they wanted,” he said, “but what they had was a contract, not a real marriage.”

The ongoing debate has sparked further discussions across social media about the true meaning of success and fulfillment. The conversation serves as a reminder that happiness cannot be bought with money and that true success comes from living a balanced, content, and meaningful life.
