Wizkid and Seun Kuti Feud Escalates Over Fela Kuti’s Legacy
The ongoing tension between Afrobeats superstar Wizkid and Seun Kuti, the son of legendary musician Fela Kuti, has escalated into a major public feud that is drawing widespread attention across Nigeria’s entertainment industry.

The statement sparked outrage among fans, cultural commentators, and music lovers, with critics accusing the singer of crossing a line by appearing to belittle a globally respected icon.
Supporters of Wizkid, however, defended him by saying the statement reflected his confidence in his current global success and influence rather than a denial of Fela Kuti’s historical importance. They argued that modern achievements and past legacies can exist side by side without diminishing either.
Seun Kuti has maintained that his reaction is not about personal ego but about protecting his father’s cultural and ideological legacy. He insists that Fela Kuti represents resistance, African pride, and political consciousness, values that should not be dragged into online fan rivalries or popularity contests.
