Victor Osimhen Says Fame Is Boring as He Opens Up About Missing a Normal Life
Nigerian football star Victor Osimhen has spoken out about the downside of being in the spotlight, saying that fame has taken away many simple joys of life. In a heartfelt interview shared by Instablog via X, the Super Eagles striker shared how public attention has interfered with his ability to live freely and enjoy personal moments with loved ones.
The Napoli forward recalled a special memory about his daughter’s first outing in Italy. He said he was unable to enjoy the moment because fans quickly gathered around him. He had to hand over his daughter to his sister while he posed for photos and recorded videos with fans. This, he said, deeply affected him.
Osimhen reflected, “Fame is boring. Sometimes you want to go outside, and you cannot do a lot of things.” He added that the pressure and constant attention that come with being a celebrity make it hard to enjoy life the way he used to before becoming famous.
The 26-year-old also stressed his desire to remain connected to ordinary people despite his global fame. He said being around people from his background gives him a sense of peace and reminds him of who he truly is. “I just like to be around these people. I just like to stay close to them… This is how I was born, so for me, it’s just natural,” he said.
Osimhen praised his elder brother for being a constant guide and support throughout his journey to success. He said having strong support from his family has helped him stay grounded and focused.
He also mentioned that even when accompanied by security personnel, he still prefers to stay among regular people. “If I have my security and they are strapped, for me, I’m good. I can be among these people. I don’t care. This is my life. This is how I live,” he stated.
While Osimhen continues to shine in the football world, his words highlight the emotional struggles celebrities often face behind the scenes. His desire to live simply shows that, despite all the fame and success, he values peace, family, and his true identity.
