VeryDarkMan Slams Tinubu Over Fuel Price Surge Above N1000 per Litre

Popular social media commentator VeryDarkMan has strongly criticised the administration of Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the sharp increase in petrol prices across the country. His reaction came after reports that fuel prices have risen to more than ₦1,000 per litre in several parts of Nigeria, sparking fresh public debate about the economic impact of the government’s fuel subsidy removal policy.

In a video that quickly went viral online, VeryDarkMan expressed deep frustration over the rising cost of living and accused the current administration of worsening economic conditions in the country. According to him, the situation Nigerians are experiencing today is worse than what existed before the subsidy removal policy was implemented.

During his commentary, the social media personality described the current government as the “worst thing that has ever happened to Nigeria.” He alleged that the leadership had misled citizens and failed to deliver the improvements that were promised during the election campaign. VeryDarkMan argued that the subsidy removal policy has not produced the expected benefits for ordinary Nigerians, particularly as fuel prices continue to rise.

Referring to his earlier comments during the 2023 election period, the activist claimed he had predicted the current economic situation. He argued that the removal of the fuel subsidy was presented as an economic reform, but that it may have been used as an opportunity for financial mismanagement. He stated that when the subsidy existed, there was at least a clear budget allocation intended to benefit Nigerians.

VeryDarkMan also raised concerns about the state of the education sector under the current administration. He claimed that many Nigerian students who received scholarships to study abroad are facing difficulties and remain stranded in countries such as Morocco. According to him, these challenges show deeper problems within the system, including what he described as declining support for education and social welfare programmes.

The commentator further questioned what the government has done with the funds saved from removing the subsidy, asking why many public services appear to be struggling despite the policy change. He accused the administration of corruption and said the situation has created more hardship for citizens already facing high living costs, inflation, and unemployment.

In addition, VeryDarkMan warned that if the government continues certain policies, including possible restrictions on internet access, Nigerians may begin to realise deeper problems within the country. His comments have generated strong reactions online, with some Nigerians supporting his criticism while others believe the government needs more time to implement its economic reforms.

The debate over rising fuel prices continues to dominate public discussion in Nigeria, especially as many households and businesses struggle with the economic impact of higher transportation and energy costs. While the government has argued that removing the subsidy is necessary for long-term economic stability, critics say the immediate consequences are placing heavy pressure on citizens.
