Unilever Partners Google Cloud to Accelerate AI Driven Transformation
Global consumer goods company Unilever has entered into a five-year partnership with Google Cloud to harness artificial intelligence, advanced data analytics and next-generation marketing tools as part of a major business transformation effort. The move signals the company’s commitment to using technology to drive growth and improve how it connects with consumers worldwide.
The partnership was announced in a joint statement signed by Tara Brady, President of EMEA at Google Cloud, and Willem Uijen, Chief Supply Chain and Operations Officer at Unilever. According to the statement, the collaboration is expected to strengthen consumer appeal and accelerate growth across Unilever’s portfolio of well-known brands such as Dove, Vaseline, and Hellmann’s.
As part of the agreement, Unilever will deploy Google Cloud technologies, including its enterprise AI platform Vertex AI to develop new capabilities in brand discovery, performance tracking, and AI-powered marketing. The initiative is designed to support a new model of consumer engagement as shopping journeys increasingly shift toward conversational and digital experiences powered by intelligent systems.
By migrating its integrated data and cloud platforms to Google Cloud, Unilever aims to build an AI-first digital backbone that can turn data into insights faster, respond quickly to market changes and generate demand more effectively. The company also plans to develop agentic workflows, which are intelligent systems capable of handling complex tasks across different business processes.
The collaboration will focus on key areas such as agentic commerce, marketing intelligence, a unified data foundation, and advanced AI capabilities. Both companies will work together to build next-generation marketing tools that improve how brands are discovered, measured, and chosen by consumers.
Willem Uijen noted that technology has become central to value creation at Unilever, saying the partnership will help the company lead as brands are increasingly shaped by AI-driven environments. Tara Brady added that Google Cloud will deploy advanced AI models, including Gemini, to support smarter systems that can learn, reaso,n and act across Unilever’s operations.
The partnership highlights how major global companies are investing heavily in AI to remain competitive, improve efficiency, and adapt to changing consumer behaviour, setting a new standard for innovation in the consumer goods industry.
