UBEC Pledges Commitment to Quality Education for Nigerian Children

The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that every Nigerian child has access to quality education, aligning with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

UBEC Executive Secretary, Aisha Garba, made this pledge during her first quarterly meeting with Executive Chairmen of State Universal Basic Education Boards (SUBEBs) in Abuja. She highlighted the need for stronger collaboration between UBEC, SUBEBs, and State Ministries of Education, citing poor coordination as a major challenge affecting the efficiency of Nigeria’s basic education system.

Garba stressed the importance of addressing critical issues such as inadequate funding, poor infrastructure, a shortage of teachers, and a lack of quality learning materials. She recalled her experiences visiting remote schools across Nigeria and emphasized the urgent need for action-driven solutions to improve learning conditions.

Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, represented by his Senior Special Assistant, Dr. Ismaila Adiatu, reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to enhancing foundational education. He emphasized improvements in teacher quality, school environments, instructional materials, and quality assurance mechanisms.
