Tinubu Submits ₦1.48 Trillion Rivers Budget to National Assembly

President Bola Tinubu has formally submitted a fresh ₦1.48 trillion budget proposal for Rivers State to the National Assembly, asking for urgent consideration and passage. This move comes after the Supreme Court nullified the state’s earlier 2025 budget, and in light of the ongoing emergency rule in Rivers State.

In his submission on Thursday, President Tinubu highlighted that the proposed budget is essential to keep the state running effectively, especially given the constitutional setback and the administrative void caused by the emergency governance situation.

The proposed spending plan allocates ₦324 billion to infrastructure, a sector seen as vital for economic growth and development in the state. In the health sector, ₦166 billion is set aside to improve healthcare delivery and facilities.

The budget also provides ₦75.6 billion for education, aiming to strengthen public schools and educational institutions. Meanwhile, ₦31.4 billion has been allocated to agriculture. Tinubu emphasized that this investment in agriculture could create about 6,000 jobs, offering a major economic boost for young people and rural communities.
