Tinubu appoints Olumode Samuel Adeyemi as new fire service chief

President Bola Tinubu has officially appointed Olumode Samuel Adeyemi as the new Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service. The appointment, which takes effect from August 14, 2025, was confirmed in a statement released on Wednesday by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB).

According to the statement, signed by Major General A.M. Jibril (retd.), Secretary of the Board, the decision follows the upcoming retirement of the current Controller-General, Engineer Abdulganiyu Jaji, who will leave office on August 13, 2025, upon reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60.

Olumode, who previously served as Deputy Controller-General in charge of Human Resources, has had a long and distinguished career in the fire service sector. He began with the FCT Fire Service before transferring to the Federal Fire Service, where he steadily climbed the ranks.

The Board noted that Olumode brings extensive experience and leadership qualities to his new role. Over the years, he has completed all required in-service and command training programs, both locally and internationally, preparing him for high-level responsibilities in the Service.
