TETFund Unveils ₦717m Faculty Complex and Praises Nasarawa State University for Transparency

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund has commissioned a new Faculty of Social Sciences lecture theatre and office complex worth ₦717,374,213.75 at the Nasarawa State University in Keffi. The agency praised the university for its transparent and responsible use of public intervention funds. The commissioning took place on Tuesday at the university campus and was led by the Chairman of TETFund’s Board of Trustees, Hon. Aminu Masari.

Masari explained that the project is part of efforts to improve learning conditions and academic infrastructure across Nigerian tertiary institutions, in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He noted that the complex was delivered under the 2020/2021 merged annual intervention and was executed to provide modern facilities that support both teaching and administrative activities. The building contains 22 furnished offices, four lecture theatres that can each seat 200 students, and 12 public conveniences, offering a more comfortable and efficient environment for both staff and students.

He praised Nasarawa State University for consistently demonstrating accountability and effective management of intervention funds. According to him, this is the third major TETFund project commissioned at the university in less than three years, and each one shows visible results. Masari said that such prudent management shows the university’s commitment to delivering quality education supported by reliable infrastructure.

Masari also revealed that about 71 percent of TETFund’s infrastructure-based projects across institutions nationwide were completed between January and September 2025. He added that since Nasarawa State University became a beneficiary in 2003, it has received more than ₦12.7 billion in infrastructure support, and about 80 percent of those funds have already been effectively utilized in different facilities across the campus.

He encouraged the university to maintain the new structure properly so that it continues serving students for many years. Masari also stated that TETFund is focusing more on supporting innovation, ICT development, and sustainable power supply solutions in universities to ensure long-term growth. He confirmed that the fund has temporarily suspended foreign training for lecturers because of exchange rate challenges and cases of beneficiaries not returning to the country after their programs.

Representing the Executive Secretary of TETFund, the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, Mr. Babatunde Olajide, said the completion of the project reflects the commitment of both TETFund and Nasarawa State University to advancing tertiary education. He acknowledged that inflation and foreign exchange issues have affected project timelines across institutions, but NSUK remains one of the universities that completes projects on schedule while maintaining quality.

Olajide encouraged universities across the country to adopt strong maintenance cultures so that public funds used to build infrastructure can continue to benefit future generations. He stated that proper management of facilities is necessary to sustain educational development and ensure that investments in infrastructure truly support academic excellence.
