Tammy Abraham set to return to the Premier League after deal agreed

Tammy Abraham is set to return to English football after Aston Villa agreed a deal believed to be worth about £18m. Besiktas have completed the trigger in the loan agreement with AS Roma to buy Abraham permanently, then moved to let him join Villa after talks between the clubs.

The 28-year-old striker travelled to the UK and underwent a medical after Villa and Besiktas reached terms. Besiktas say the purchase clause in their loan contract with Roma was fulfilled and a fee of about €13m (reported in some notices) was arranged for Roma before they agreed to sell Abraham on to Villa for a larger sum.

Abraham has enjoyed a productive season in Turkey, scoring regularly for Besiktas since joining them on loan. He scored around a dozen goals in 24 league games this season, form that helped push Villa to secure his services as extra striking depth for Unai Emery’s side. He has also been capped by England.

The striker first rose to prominence in England at Chelsea and had a very successful loan at Villa in 2018–19. He moved to Roma in 2021 and later had a loan at AC Milan. Over his career he has shown he can score in different leagues and now returns to the Premier League where he first made his name.

Besiktas said the contract condition for the permanent transfer was met and that the transfer fee due to Roma would be paid. Reports say Besiktas reluctantly agreed to let Abraham move because Villa’s offer included terms that worked for all parties. Clubs often use this route when a buying club wants a player who is on a loan with an obligation to buy.

Abraham’s arrival gives Aston Villa more options up front and adds Premier League experience to their strike line. Villa see him as a reliable option who can rotate with their main forwards and add goals in a busy season across league and cup competitions. Expect a formal club announcement once all medical and paperwork are complete.

Fans should watch the official club channels for the full announcement and contract details. Transfers can still hinge on final paperwork and registration with the league, so until the clubs post the official statement, the move is not yet fully closed.
