Taiwo Oyedele Appointed Nigeria’s New Minister of State for Finance
President Bola Tinubu has nominated Taiwo Oyedele as the new Minister of State for Finance. He will replace Doris Uzoka-Anite, who has been moved to another ministry.
According to a statement released on March 3, 2026, by the President’s media adviser Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu has sent Oyedele’s name to the Senate for confirmation. The letter was addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Before this nomination, Taiwo Oyedele served as the Chairman of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee. President Tinubu first appointed him to lead the tax reforms committee in July 2023. The committee was officially inaugurated in August 2023 to review and improve Nigeria’s tax system.
Meanwhile, the former Minister of State for Finance, Doris Uzoka-Anite, will now serve as Minister of State in the Ministry of Budget and National Planning.
Profile of Taiwo Oyedele
Taiwo Oyedele is 50 years old and hails from Ikaram-Akoko in Ondo State. He is an economist, accountant, and public policy expert with many years of experience.
He studied at Yaba College of Technology, where he obtained a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accountancy and Finance. He later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University.
Oyedele has also completed executive education programmes at London School of Economics, Yale University, Gordon Institute of Business Science, and Harvard Kennedy School.
He worked with PwC for 22 years, joining the firm in 2001. During his time there, he rose to become Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader.
Oyedele is also a professor at Babcock University and a visiting scholar at Lagos Business School. Over the years, he has spoken at many conferences and summits, sharing his expertise on tax and fiscal policy matters.
