T-Jos Sets Guinness World Record with 154-Hour Haircut Marathon in Abuja
In an incredible show of skill, passion, and resilience, Nigerian barber Joshua Aiyeniro, widely known as T-Jos, has made history by completing the longest-ever premium haircut marathon. His record-breaking feat took place at the Velodrome, Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja, spanning from Tuesday, June 10, at exactly 10 p.m. to Monday, June 17, at the same hour.
T-Jos actively spent a total of 168 hours on the task. However, in line with the official Guinness World Records rules, he was permitted to take one hour of rest after every 12 hours. With 14 hours of rest deducted from the total time, T-Jos officially clocked in a stunning 154 hours of continuous haircutting, now awaiting official confirmation as the new world record.
The closing ceremony was a significant moment, attended by many notable guests. Among them was Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who earlier declared the countdown to the end of the challenge. His attendance, along with other respected dignitaries, highlighted the importance of T-Jos’s achievement not only as a personal success but also as a message of motivation for Nigeria’s youth.
T-Jos’s dedication to his craft has brought international attention to the barbing profession, proving that with determination and hard work, skills-based careers can achieve global recognition. The marathon wasn’t just about cutting hair — it was a celebration of talent, creativity, and endurance.
This outstanding accomplishment stands as a symbol of hope and encouragement for young Nigerians, especially those pursuing vocational and creative professions. T-Jos’s journey reminds everyone that excellence can come from any corner — even a barbershop.
As he awaits formal recognition from the Guinness World Records team, T-Jos continues to earn applause from across the nation and beyond. His legacy as a record-setting barber is sure to inspire future generations of skilled workers in Nigeria and around the world.
