Speed Darlington Mocks Lagos Women After Fleeing Nigeria Amid NAPTIP Scandal

Controversial Nigerian rapper Speed Darlington has stirred fresh outrage after publicly declaring his preference for women in New York over those in Lagos. This comes just days after he allegedly fled Nigeria following a manhunt launched by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) over claims that he had inappropriate relations with a minor.

In a video now making the rounds online, Speed Darlington boasted about how much better he believes women in New York are. According to him, they are more emotionally involved in relationships, unlike their Lagos counterparts who, in his words, are mainly interested in money.

“I left Lagos girl for New York girls. I thought they were better. These people dey do love. Our own people na ‘give me money, give me money,’” he said in the now-viral clip.

The video has drawn heavy criticism from Nigerians on social media. While some agreed with his comments on relationships, others were quick to remind him that relocating to the United States does not erase the serious allegations hanging over his head.

What is Speed Darlington accused of?
The rapper is allegedly wanted by NAPTIP for engaging in an unlawful relationship with a minor. Though he has not publicly addressed the accusations in detail, his sudden departure from Nigeria has raised eyebrows and deepened public suspicion.

Reactions online have been largely negative. One user tweeted, “Enjoy New York, but you’ll still face the music when you return.” Another said, “This guy useless pass Portable,” comparing him to another controversial Nigerian celebrity.

His remarks, paired with the timing of his exit, have only added fuel to the fire, with many questioning if he’s using the controversy to seek attention or deflect from the allegations.

While Speed Darlington may enjoy the spotlight for his unfiltered comments, the lingering accusations from NAPTIP are a serious matter. Many Nigerians are calling for the authorities to ensure he is held accountable, regardless of his location. As the conversation unfolds, one thing remains clear—public opinion is not on his side.
