Small Doctor Warns Nigerians to Avoid Korope Buses With Conductors

Popular Nigerian singer Small Doctor, whose real name is Adekunle Temitope, has issued a strong warning to Nigerians about the rising risks of public transportation, especially the use of Korope minibuses that operate with conductors.

In a post shared on his Twitter page, the artist raised concerns about the safety of boarding these small commercial buses, which are commonly used in parts of Lagos and other Nigerian cities. He urged Nigerians to stay vigilant and avoid taking unnecessary risks, especially when dealing with unfamiliar public transport operators.

Small Doctor wrote, “If you come across a mini bus (Korope) with a conductor, please do not board. Do not board. Do not board. 90% of them have another agenda. Be vigilant.”

The musician’s post has since gone viral, drawing mixed reactions from fans and the general public. While some agreed with the need to stay cautious, others called on the government to do more to regulate the public transport sector and ensure the safety of commuters.

His warning comes amid growing public concerns about kidnappings, robbery, and harassment involving fake or suspicious commercial drivers in urban areas.

Many Nigerians rely on minibuses and danfo vehicles for daily movement, but a lack of proper regulation and oversight has made it easy for criminal elements to exploit the system.

Small Doctor’s advice reflects ongoing fears about transport insecurity in the country and adds to the chorus of voices urging commuters to take extra care when moving around.

In a related development, social media personality VeryDarkMan has been cautioned by the Anambra State Police Command over his planned candlelight procession in honour of the late Ifesinachi Onyekere, also known as Fish Magnet, who was recently abducted and killed by suspected gunmen.

Although Otse said the event is meant to draw attention to rising insecurity in the state, the police warned it could disturb public peace and revealed that the victim’s family had distanced themselves from the procession.

According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, spokesperson for the state police, the Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, has advised Otse to stop any action that could lead to further tension, while assuring the public that investigations are ongoing.

Both incidents reflect the growing public unrest around safety concerns in different parts of the country, whether in transportation or general security, and underline the urgent need for proactive measures from both the government and communities.
