Shank Comics Responds to Backlash Over Comments About Diddy
Nigerian content creator and streamer Adesokan Adedeji Emmanuel, popularly known as Shank Comics, has addressed the backlash he received after revealing the qualities he admired about American music mogul Diddy.
On Monday, Shank took to his X handle to clarify his earlier statement, admitting that his post was irresponsible. He stressed that he does not in any way admire, support, or defend Diddy.
“To clarify any misunderstanding, my post about Diddy was a misguided attempt at referencing a villain in a ‘movie’ and it was irresponsible. To be absolutely clear, I do not admire, support, or defend him in any way,” Shank wrote.
He also emphasized that he believes the victims involved in the crimes Diddy was convicted for deserve justice. Shank described the crimes as “unacceptable” in both society and the entertainment industry, underlining his commitment to responsible use of his platform.
“The allegations against him are horrific, and he deserves every consequence that comes from them. What he’s been accused of (and convicted of) is unacceptable and has no place in our industry or anywhere else. Victims deserve justice. I’m committed to doing better and using my platform responsibly,” he added.
Shank Comics’ apology comes after public scrutiny following his earlier comments praising certain qualities of Diddy, which triggered social media backlash. His response highlights the importance of accountability and sensitivity when discussing controversial public figures, especially in the entertainment space.
