Shallipopi Says Marriage Is the Biggest Financial Mistake for Men
Nigerian singer and rapper Crown Uzama, popularly known as Shallipopi, has sparked conversations online after advising men to avoid relationships and marriage, which he described as serious financial traps.
The Elon Musk crooner took to his Twitter handle on Monday, September 22, 2025, to share his opinion. According to him, love and marriage often bring heavy financial responsibilities that many men, especially those without wealthy backgrounds, may struggle to handle.
Shallipopi went further to describe marriage as “the biggest financial mistake” a man can make. He also noted that being in a relationship could drain men financially, urging young men to prioritize financial stability before venturing into romantic commitments.
He stressed that men who do not come from affluent families should be cautious about tying themselves down with the constant expenses that come with relationships. Instead, he advised them to live within their means and avoid unnecessary pressure.
In addition, the artiste encouraged celibacy as a safer and smarter option, both financially and personally. In his words:
“The biggest financial mistake, when you and your papa nor dey the Top 10 list of richest people in Africa you go cry bro. OS na financial mistake, Girlfriend na financial mistake, stay celibate.”
Shallipopi’s statement has drawn mixed reactions on social media, with some agreeing with his perspective on financial independence, while others criticized him for discouraging relationships.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, the Kano State Police Command announced the arrest of two men for allegedly robbing and attempting to kill Afrobeat singer Lil Kesh in Lagos. The incident reportedly occurred on August 19, 2025, at Bera Estate, Chevron, where the suspects forced the artiste to transfer N2,120,000 from his account during the attack.
