Seun Kuti Slams Ned Nwoko for Alleged Wickedness Toward Community

Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti has publicly accused Nigerian politician and businessman Ned Nwoko, the husband of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, of committing acts of “alarming wickedness” toward his local community. Seun Kuti, the son of the legendary Fela Kuti, raised these allegations during a recent statement highlighting Nwoko’s purported actions in his hometown, which he claims have caused widespread distress among residents.

According to Seun Kuti, Nwoko allegedly engaged in harmful practices, including the detention of several young men under false pretenses. He asserted that the politician went as far as threatening the life of the king in his village and attempting to seize communal lands by force. Seun Kuti expressed shock that Regina Daniels remains married to Nwoko despite these claims, remarking on the apparent contradiction between his public persona and his alleged private conduct.

He stated, “Old people everywhere like Regina Daniels’ husband. Regina married such a man despite the kind of wickedness he has shown his community. He almost killed the king of his village and wanted to take the whole land of the community by force. He was so evil that he imprisoned nine boys for years on false terrorism charges, expressing disbelief that Regina Daniels could remain married to him in the name of love.”

Seun Kuti emphasized that his critique was not solely aimed at Regina Daniels but also at the larger social and economic conditions that influence the choices of young women in Nigeria. He suggested that improvements in society could prevent vulnerable individuals from entering relationships that may put them at risk.

Social media users responded strongly to his statement, offering commentary on wealth, influence, and personal character. Some shared reflections such as, “Because a man is rich, doesn’t mean he’s a good man. Know this, and know peace, ladies.” Others highlighted the difference between appearances on social media and reality, noting that Regina Daniels’ public image may not reflect the private challenges within her marriage.

Seun Kuti’s remarks underscore the ongoing discussion in Nigeria about accountability, power dynamics, and the impact of wealth and influence on communities. His critique also brings attention to how celebrity marriages are often scrutinized, particularly when public figures are involved in political or social controversies.

By speaking out, Seun Kuti has added a prominent voice to debates on morality, leadership, and the responsibility of those in positions of power to act in the best interests of their communities. The issue continues to generate conversations about justice, fairness, and social responsibility in Nigeria.
