Scarlet Gomez Reveals She Needed Therapy After Intense Role in Wura
Nollywood actress Scarlet Gomez has opened up about the emotional impact of playing a major role in the hit TV series Wura, revealing that she had to seek therapy to recover.
Speaking during a recent episode of Paul and Baaj, hosted by Paul Utomi and Baaj Adebule, the actress explained that her portrayal of Wura-Amoo Adeleke took a serious toll on her mental health.
According to Scarlet Gomez, the intensity of the character did not end when filming stopped. She said the role lingered in her personality, affecting how she interacted with people in her everyday life.
She revealed that the situation became so serious that even her spouse noticed a change in her behaviour and outlook, prompting her to reflect on the impact of the role.
“I had to do therapy after Wura because it was bad,” she said, explaining how she struggled to detach from the character. She recalled moments when she found herself reacting to situations with the same dominance and attitude as her on-screen persona.
The actress added that transitioning out of a role can sometimes be more difficult than getting into it, especially when an actor spends a long time embodying a strong and complex character.
Scarlet Gomez used her experience to highlight the importance of mental health awareness, encouraging others in similar situations to seek professional help when needed.
The series Wura, which streams on Showmax, has gained wide recognition for its gripping storyline and emotionally demanding characters, making it one of the standout productions in Nigeria’s television space.
Her revelation has sparked conversations about the psychological effects of acting, especially in roles that require deep emotional immersion.
