Salah, Rice, Palmer Lead 2024–25 PFA Player of the Year Nominees

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has once again been shortlisted for the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Men’s Player of the Year award, following a spectacular season that saw him score 29 goals and provide 18 assists in the Premier League.

Salah, who recently won the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year with nearly 90 percent of the vote—the largest margin in the 21st century—is widely seen as the frontrunner for the PFA prize. His consistent performance was central to Liverpool’s Premier League title win last season.

Joining him on the six-man shortlist are:

  • Alexis Mac Allister (Liverpool)
  • Declan Rice (Arsenal)
  • Cole Palmer (Chelsea)
  • Alexander Isak (Newcastle United)
  • Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United)

Declan Rice had a standout year for Arsenal, contributing a career-best nine goals and 10 assists in 52 appearances. His midfield dominance played a key role in Arsenal’s impressive campaign.

Cole Palmer, the surprise inclusion, had a challenging season at Chelsea but still did enough to be nominated. The young midfielder had already clinched the PFA Young Player of the Year title for 2023–24.

Newcastle’s Alexander Isak also made the list after scoring 23 goals and helping the club secure a Champions League spot while also lifting the League Cup, ending the club’s 56-year trophy drought.

Despite Manchester United’s poor season—their worst top-flight run since 1973–74—Bruno Fernandes managed to shine with eight goals and 10 assists, earning his place among the nominees.

The 2025 PFA Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in Manchester on August 19, where one of these six footballers will be crowned the top player of the season.
