Ryan Taylor Says Nigerians Can’t Silence Him Over DJ Cuppy Comments

British boxer Ryan Taylor has fired back at Nigerians who criticized him for his recent comments about his ex-fiancée, Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy.

The controversy started on Father’s Day, when Taylor posted a picture of himself and his daughter on Instagram, writing about his desire to “end racism” by having mixed-race children. A follower then remarked that his daughter looked like DJ Cuppy, prompting Taylor to throw a personal jab at the Nigerian DJ.

In his response, he said:

“She wasn’t enough of a woman to even fathom creating such a beautiful creation like mine. Please leave me and don’t come back.”

This harsh comment sparked outrage among many Nigerians online, who accused Taylor of disrespecting DJ Cuppy, who is the daughter of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola.

Taylor later addressed the backlash, saying Nigerians were unfairly attacking both him and the mother of his child.

In a new post, he defended his right to speak freely:

“Nigerians gotta chill out. You come for the mother of my child and think I won’t back it? Don’t come on my page talking shit and cry when I speak. I NEVER signed the Contract.”

He added:

“I will always say what I want and do what is right for me or my family. I haven’t said shit yet. Everyone gotta chill.”

Taylor and DJ Cuppy ended their engagement in 2023, and while both have moved on, this new drama has reignited online tensions between their supporters.
