Regina Daniels’ Friend Ann Released After Two Nights in Detention Amid Theft Allegation

Ann, a close friend of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, has regained her freedom after spending two nights in detention following her arrest over alleged theft. The news was confirmed on Wednesday evening by Regina Daniels’ elder brother, Sammy Daniels, who shared the update on his Instagram story. According to him, Ann’s release came after the case was adjourned to March 5, 2026, allowing her to return home while legal proceedings continue.

Earlier on Wednesday, Sammy Daniels raised concerns about the handling of Ann’s arrest and court appearance. He alleged that she was taken to court without prior notification to her family or access to legal counsel, describing the process as opaque and lacking proper communication. He wrote, “Similar techniques. Not letting the legal representative or family aware of the whereabouts. Not allowing anyone know the court, the final stage of prison. Case adjourned until March 5th.”

Hours later, Sammy provided a brief follow-up confirming Ann’s release: “My T.E.D. Ann is out.” The statement brought relief to supporters and friends who had been worried about the circumstances of her detention.

Reports indicate that Ann was initially arrested in Lagos on Monday and subsequently flown to Abuja via private jet. The arrest was reportedly connected to a theft allegation made by Senator Ned Nwoko, Regina Daniels’ estranged husband. This fresh allegation emerged roughly two months after Daniels and Nwoko reportedly parted ways amid claims of domestic violence.

As of this report, there has been no official statement from Senator Nwoko regarding Ann’s release or the ongoing court proceedings. Legal experts note that the adjournment to March 5, 2026, will allow both parties time to prepare their arguments and for Ann to secure legal representation to address the allegations.

The case continues to attract public attention, given the high-profile nature of the individuals involved and the circumstances surrounding Daniels’ estrangement from Senator Nwoko. Supporters of Ann and Daniels are closely monitoring developments as the matter moves through the judicial system.
