Reekado Banks Reveals He and Wizkid Are Now at Peace After 5-Year Feud

Nigerian singer Reekado Banks has finally confirmed that he and Wizkid have put their differences behind them, five years after their public fallout during the #EndSARS protests in 2020. Speaking on The Esther Show, Reekado shared that the reconciliation happened recently when Wizkid visited his restaurant.

The rift between the two artists started during a tense period in Nigeria, when citizens were protesting police brutality under the #EndSARS movement. At that time, Reekado had announced the release of their joint single Omo Olomo, but instead of excitement, the announcement triggered a backlash from Wizkid. He responded by insulting Reekado on social media, calling him a “fool” and a “clout animal,” saying it was inappropriate to promote music during a national crisis.

The incident left fans stunned and caused a wave of reactions online. While many supported Wizkid’s stance on delaying entertainment releases during protests, most felt that his reaction toward Reekado was harsh and unnecessary.

Now, Reekado has offered his side of the story, revealing that he had disagreed with his management’s decision to release the song. “It was my management that insisted on releasing the song at that time. I was opposed to it,” he explained.

He went on to say that the tension finally ended after a recent visit from Wizkid, who expressed regret over his behaviour. According to Reekado, “We had a little talk and he was a little regretful about it. He said he shouldn’t have gone that route.”

The emotional highlight of their reconciliation came when Wizkid mentioned that both of them, along with producer Don Jazzy, had recently lost their mothers. This shared grief helped him reflect and soften his heart.

“He mentioned that we are three people in the game who recently lost our moms. And he feels sorry about that time. So, we’re good now,” Reekado said.
