Pete Edochie Speaks on Cultural Value of Traditional Marriage at Billionaire’s Son’s Wedding in Anambra

Legendary Nollywood actor, Pete Edochie, has reminded Nigerians about the importance of respecting traditional customs, especially in marriage. He gave this message during a luxurious traditional wedding held in Anambra State on Monday, April 21, 2025.

The wedding joined Ugo and Kene, who are believed to be children of wealthy businessmen. The event was grand and filled with displays of Igbo culture, drawing attention across social media and news platforms.

During the wedding, Pete Edochie addressed the guests in Igbo, stressing that traditional weddings are more than just ceremonies. He explained that they carry deep meaning and cultural heritage, especially for the Igbo people.

“These ceremonies are not just for show,” Edochie said in Igbo. “They are rooted in our history and values, and we must continue to honour them.”

He also expressed concern over the way English was spoken more than the native language during the event. According to him, people should make more effort to speak their local dialects at such cultural occasions to preserve tradition.

The ceremony itself was a feast for the eyes. The groom, Ugo, made a dramatic entrance with a lion’s head draped over his shoulder — a symbol of power and bravery in Igbo culture. Meanwhile, the bride, Kene, arrived like royalty, seated on a golden chair.

Online viewers were quick to nickname the groom “Odogwu Paranran,” a title that reflects strength and greatness. The bride’s father also showed the family’s wealth by building a 7,000-seat auditorium just for the wedding.

Popular influencers Diane Eneje and Frances Theodore, known to be close to the bride, also attended the wedding. Many guests and fans online praised the display of culture, wealth, and tradition.

Social media was flooded with reactions. One user wrote, “The legendary Pete Edochie giving a speech about the beauty of marriage.” Another said, “This 2025 class came prepared o. When we thought we had seen it all in 2024 weddings.”

Some fans appreciated the groom’s outfit, saying they preferred traditional Igbo attire over other styles like agbada. Others joked about the pressure today’s weddings put on society, calling them “carnivals.”
