Peju Ogunmola’s Family Clarifies Cause of Son’s Death Amid Rumours
The family of Nollywood actress Peju Ogunmola has spoken publicly following the death of her only son, Ayomikun, while setting the record straight on misleading reports surrounding his passing. Initial reports circulating online had claimed that Ayomikun died in the United Kingdom after an accident in the bathroom. In a statement released on Friday through family spokesperson, Yemi Amodu, the family expressed sorrow over the painful loss and described Ayomikun as a jewel and rising star whose light touched many lives. The statement confirmed that he was admitted to a hospital in Ibadan, where he received full medical attention before passing peacefully. He has since been buried at Eternal Rest Home in the Oyo State capital.
The family stressed that the reports of a bathroom accident were entirely untrue and dishonored the memory of their beloved son. They appealed to the public to disregard the viral stories, which they said were only compounding their grief at a time when they should be mourning in peace. According to the family, the false stories only bring additional pain to his parents, relatives, and everyone who loved him.
“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved son, Sola Ayomikun Omobolanle (son of Sunday & Peju Ogunmola Omobolanle), a jewel and a precious child. His departure is a profound loss to our family and to all who knew him,” the statement read. It added, “Sola did not pass away as a result of any bathroom accident, contrary to false reports being circulated. He was briefly unwell and received first-class medical care before answering the call of his Creator.”
The statement also conveyed the family’s gratitude for the support and prayers they have received since the news broke. According to them, the outpouring of love from friends, colleagues, and well-wishers has been a source of strength in this dark moment. They particularly thanked those who had chosen to honour Ayomikun’s memory with respect instead of spreading harmful rumours.
