PDP Chieftain Urges Nigerian Children to Stay Focused and Embrace Their Future
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Segun Sowunmi, has called on Nigerian children to avoid distractions and stay focused on their goals to achieve greatness. In his Children’s Day message on Tuesday, Sowunmi encouraged them to recognise their inner strength and make the most of the resources around them.
Sowunmi, a 2023 governorship aspirant under the PDP in Ogun State, urged children in Nigeria and across Africa to rise above current challenges and build a better future for themselves and their communities. He expressed hope for what lies ahead, saying he already sees signs of a bright future among the youth.
“The children of Nigeria and the African race have a powerful story to tell—one of resilience, determination, and success,” he said. “So, I urge you to engage only in activities that uplift you and those around you.”
He warned children about the many distractions targeting their young minds today, stressing the importance of focus and discipline. Sowunmi also highlighted the importance of culture and tradition, urging children not to see them as rigid but as values that can grow and evolve over time to ensure their survival and success.
He encouraged them to embrace the African principle of unity and collective progress, summed up in the idea: “I am because you are,” which calls for being each other’s keeper.
“May the owner of life guide and protect you as you grow,” Sowunmi concluded. “I believe in your future. Enjoy this special day dedicated to you—our hope and pride.”
