Pastor Tobi Adegboyega Says Money Played Key Role in His Cancer Recovery

UK-based Pastor Tobi Adegboyega, founder of SPAC Nation, has caused a stir online after stating that while God healed him from cancer, money played a major role in his recovery.

Speaking during a recent sermon focused on purpose and destiny, Pastor Adegboyega highlighted that spirituality alone is not always enough to accomplish God’s plans, and that financial resources can be critical in achieving divine goals.

The pastor, known for his luxury lifestyle and views on prosperity, explained that his wealth ensured he received timely medical attention during his battle with cancer. He said, “God isn’t about religion, Christianity, or labels. To fulfill God’s purpose, money is essential. God helped me survive cancer, but yes, money did the madness. It was money that put me as the number one priority. Money is my servant. Money was the guy that told the hospital, You’re not going to keep this guy on the waiting list for surgery for three months. Money told them, Number one priority. It was money that spoke.”

Adegboyega’s remarks have reignited discussions around the intersection of faith and wealth. While some supporters applauded his transparency, others criticised the comments, interpreting them as a sign of Christianity being commercialised.

His ministry, which attracts both celebrities and young professionals, often emphasizes the prosperity gospel. Pastor Adegboyega maintains that money should be seen as a tool for achieving God’s purpose rather than a source of sin, encouraging believers to manage finances wisely in alignment with their faith.

The debate highlights ongoing conversations in religious circles about the balance between spiritual devotion and material resources in fulfilling life and ministry objectives.
