Osimhen Reportedly Urges Lookman to Join Him at Galatasaray

Nigeria star striker Victor Osimhen is reportedly encouraging fellow Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman to make a move to Turkish giants Galatasaray. According to reports from the Italian sports media, Osimhen has personally reached out to Lookman in hopes of convincing him to leave Atalanta and join him in Turkey.

Galatasaray are said to be strongly interested in signing Lookman as they look to strengthen their attack, especially with the possibility of Barış Alper Yılmaz leaving the club during the January transfer window. Lookman, who has had a challenging start to the season at Atalanta, is believed to be open to a new opportunity if both clubs can agree on a transfer fee.

Reports claim Osimhen has already spoken to Lookman directly, telling him, “Come to Galatasaray and be happy here,” as the two players maintain a close friendship off the pitch. This personal appeal has reportedly added more push to Galatasaray’s pursuit of the Nigerian winger.

Lookman has struggled for regular playing time at Atalanta this season following disagreements with club officials after his move to Inter Milan fell through last summer. His relationship with the club was affected, leading to less involvement in the squad earlier in the season before he slowly returned to action.

The reigning African Player of the Year was sidelined for several weeks, appearing briefly in matches before earning his first full start in the Champions League against Club Brugge. He has since begun to regain form, scoring his first goal of the 2025/26 season during Atalanta’s match against AC Milan.

The 28-year-old scored a powerful goal in the 35th minute to equalize the match after Milan opened the scoring. It was a reminder of the sharp finishing and confidence that made Lookman one of Atalanta’s most important players last season.

Last season, Lookman recorded an impressive 15 goals and 5 assists in Serie A, along with 5 goals and 2 assists in the Champions League. His performance made him one of the standout forwards in Europe, attracting transfer attention from several major clubs.

If Galatasaray and Atalanta reach an agreement, Lookman could soon join Osimhen in Turkey, creating a strong Nigerian partnership in the club’s attack.
