Oladips Shares Experience of EFCC Raid and Days in Detention

Rapper Oladips has opened up about his encounter with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, saying he was picked up during a late-night raid in his estate and kept in detention for several days. He described the event as shocking, explaining that it happened around 3 a.m. while he was in his home.

He said the EFCC officials entered the estate and moved from house to house before getting to his residence. According to him, he did not panic because he knew he was not involved in fraud or any illegal activity. He was in his room using his phone when he heard loud noises from downstairs.

Oladips said the officials broke into his kitchen and came straight inside, asking him for his phone. He explained that he does not own a laptop and only had two phones. The officers seized them and took him to their office, where he was kept in custody.

He said he was detained for four to five days, and during the investigation, nothing incriminating was found on his devices. He stated that one of the senior officials asked him about tax payment, which became the basis for continuing to hold him.

The rapper revealed that he was later released but not without financial loss. He explained that money was collected from him before he was allowed to go, even though no evidence of wrongdoing was found. He expressed frustration, saying he suffered for no reason.

Oladips said he thought about suing the EFCC but later decided against it. He said taking legal action would require time, energy, and more money, and he was not ready for the stress involved. He added that such cases in Nigeria are usually tiring and difficult to pursue.

He described the system as unfair and said he still does not understand why he was kept for days despite being innocent. He said the experience was harsh and painful, but he chose to move on because trying to fight the system would cost him even more.
