Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Ojogwu, widely known as Odumodublvck, has explained how he came up with his distinctive stage name. The rapper shared the story during a recent interview with BET Network, revealing that the name came from an experience he had as a child.
Odumodublvck said the name “Odumodu” originally referred to a masquerade. He recalled trying to scare someone back then, and the person responded by calling him “Odumodu.” At the time, he didn’t like the name and didn’t want to be addressed by it. However, the name continued to follow him.
The rapper explained that the nickname became permanent after a moment that involved his mother. He said when his mother visited him at school, people around referred to her as “Odumodu’s mom,” and she was confused. That was the moment he realized the name had already stuck, and eventually, he embraced it as part of his identity.
Before choosing the name Odumodublvck, the rapper used the stage name “T Flows.” He now laughs about the old name, calling it common and forgettable. He said there were probably thousands of people already using similar names, and he wanted something truly original.
Odumodublvck said that embracing the unusual name was intentional. Even though many of his friends laughed at him when he said he would use the name, he believed strongly that it was the right choice. To him, the uniqueness of the name made it stand out immediately.
He believes that the name plays a big role in shaping his identity as an artist. He said that if he had not taken the bold decision to own the name, there might never have been another artist known as Odumodublvck in the music industry. The name has since become a strong part of his brand and personality.
The rapper also emphasized that being different is important in the music industry. For him, the name is not just a name but a representation of confidence, culture, and originality.
