Nigeria to Host AFRIMA 2025 in Lagos as Entry Submissions Open in May

Nigeria has officially been named the host country for the 2025 edition of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), bringing the prestigious event back to one of Africa’s largest entertainment hubs—Lagos. The announcement came on Tuesday from the African Union Commission (AUC) and the international AFRIMA committee at the AU headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Set under the theme “Unstoppable Africa,” the highly anticipated event will take place in Lagos from November 25 to 30, 2025. Entry submissions for AFRIMA 2025 will open on May 27 and close on August 8, 2025.

Angela Martins, AUC Director for Social Development, Culture, and Sport, praised Lagos for its history of excellence in hosting major international gatherings. She highlighted the city’s world-class infrastructure, vibrant media landscape, security, transportation, and renowned hospitality as key reasons for its selection.

“Lagos has the right mix of modern facilities, strong media presence, security and transport systems, and good hospitality that make it ideal for hosting a major global event,” Martins said.

AFRIMA 2025 is expected to be one of the largest cultural showcases on the continent, featuring:
