Nigeria Set To Host Global Gas Investors Forum in October
Nigeria is preparing to welcome top global gas investors and industry leaders to Lagos this October for the 2025 edition of the Gas Investment Forum. The two-day event will be led by President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Energy, Olu Verheijen, who is expected to deliver the keynote address and act as the Chief Host. Organisers say the forum will focus on building strong partnerships for investment, innovation, and industrial growth across West Africa’s gas sector.
Event Director Osaze Isesele confirmed that the forum has become a central platform for unlocking new investment opportunities and supporting Nigeria’s wider gas monetisation strategy. He stated that confirmed speakers include Ed Ubong, Leader of the Decade of Gas Secretariat, NJ Ayuk of the African Energy Chamber, and Akachukwu Nwokedi of the Nigeria Gas Association.
Several international energy experts will also attend the forum, including Andrea Stegher, President of the International Gas Union, and David Oluseyi Ige, Non-Executive Director at NNPC Limited and Chief Executive Officer of GasInvest Limited. Other speakers include Wole Ogunsanya of the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria, Eyono Fatayi-Williams of the Women in Energy Network, and Oga Adejo-Ogiri of the Association of Local Distributors of Gas.
The forum, themed “Charting New Opportunities for Investment, Growth & Industrialisation,” will bring together government officials, policymakers, investors, and energy executives to deepen dialogue around Nigeria’s gas monetisation agenda. It is endorsed by the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources and co-hosted by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission to ensure strong alignment with national energy goals.
Organisers have also announced that a trade exhibition will run alongside the conference sessions, enabling both local and international companies to showcase innovative solutions and investment-ready projects. This is expected to encourage new partnerships and support the growth of the gas industry.
They believe the gathering will help advance West Africa’s ambition of using natural gas for sustainable development and regional economic integration. The forum offers a unique opportunity for public and private sector stakeholders to collaborate effectively and support long-term industrial growth.
In addition to keynote speeches and technical sessions, the Gas Investment Forum will feature multiple networking opportunities across different sectors. The main aim is to strengthen the implementation of the Decade of Gas policy and establish Nigeria as a major global hub for gas-driven industrialisation.
Why is this forum important for Nigeria? Experts believe it will attract international investment and support the country’s plan to use natural gas as a major driver of industrial growth, energy security, and sustainable development.
